If you are planning a trip to Italy, you have to visit the beautiful town of Ravello! Ravello is located high in the mountains above the Amalfi Coast and it is an absolute dream. The mountain and ocean views are incredible and it’s just so peaceful and serene. Ravello is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is a must see if you are visiting the Amalfi Coast. We spent one night in Ravello and it’s the perfect place to spend 1-3 nights or even go for a day trip if you are staying in other towns in the Amalfi Coast. In this post, I am sharing how to spend one day in the beautiful town of Ravello in Italy.
How to Get to Ravello Italy
The nearest airport to Ravello is the Naples International Airport. This is about an hour and a half drive to Ravello. There is no direct train, ferry, or bus to Ravello. Even though the bus is cost effective, it can take a few hours to get there. I highly recommend booking with a private transfer company. I think this would be the easiest and best option. We booked a car through Divina Car Service. We loved our driver, Enzo!
Best Time to Visit Ravello Italy
May through September is the the best time to visit the beautiful town of Ravello in Italy since the weather is warm. You can visit in the off season, but just note that a lot of places will be closed.
To avoid the crowds in the summer months, I recommend visiting in May or September. We visited at the end of September and had great summer weather!
How Many Days to Spend in Ravello Italy
Ravello is small so exploring the town just takes a few hours. Ravello makes a great day trip option if you are staying in the Amalfi Coast. If you want to stay longer than a day, I recommend staying one or two nights. We spent one night in Ravello. We arrived first thing in the morning and spent the first half of the day exploring the town and beautiful gardens. And we spent the second half of the day relaxing at the hotel. We thought it was the perfect amount of time to spend in Ravello.
Where to Stay in Ravello Italy

Ravello has beautiful luxury hotels and since we were only staying for one night, we decided to splurge and stay at the Belmond Caruso Hotel. The hotel and room were incredible. It is the most amazing room I’ve ever stayed at in my life and it had a beautiful view from our private terrace.

Their infinity pool is amazing and the views are insane. Also if you are staying at this hotel for more than one night, you should check out the activities they offer! They have complimentary shuttles to Amalfi and Positano, boat excursions, and more.
One of my favorite things about Belmond is that you can request breakfast to be set up on your private terrace. There is so many items to choose from and everything was so good! We loved having a slow and relaxing morning here.

Here are some other great hotel options:
Things to Do in Ravello Italy
Visit the Gardens

Ravello has two beautiful gardens – Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. You can purchase tickets at the entrance and they both cost 7 Euro. Before our hotel check-in, we explored Villa Rufolo and I loved all the flowers. We also visited the museum where you can learn the history about the gardens. We didn’t have time to see Villa Cimbrone, but this is also a must-see! Our hotel recommended that it was amazing to visit during sunset.
Explore the Town

Walk around the town and the lovely town square, Piazzo Duomo, and check out all their cute shops! The square is also home to Ravello’s cathedral.
Take a Cooking Class
A highly recommended activity in Ravello is Mamma Agata’s Cooking Class. The class starts at 10am with a welcome greeting and lemon cake! Then, you get to cooking! It’s a 3 hour class and then you reward yourself with lunch on the beautiful terrace tasting all the food that was cooked during the class.
Relax

Ravello is perfect for relaxation. We loved spending the day relaxing by the pool.
