5 Blogging Tips

I wanted to do something a little different in this post. I’ve been blogging for two years now, and even though I still have so much to learn, I’ve learned a lot along the way. Some of these things I wish I knew when I started so I thought it would be helpful to share these 5 blogging tips with you guys who are thinking about starting a blog or who are trying to grow their blog.

Know Your “Why”

When you are starting your blog, it is important to know your “why.” And what I mean by that is why do you want to create a blog. What is your blog’s purpose? What kind of resource do you want to be for others? If you are not sure, start with what you know. What do you love? What is something that you would love to share with others?

Do you love fashion? Fitness? Cooking? Travel? The possibilities are endless. Pick something you enjoy. Once you have something you can focus on, it will make it easy to plan content, especially if you are super excited on what you are writing about. I have always loved fashion and putting outfits together, so I started a fashion blog. Find out more about why I started a fashion blog here.

Be Consistent

Growing a blog and social media is hard work. It does not happen overnight. Sometimes I feel like I’m just stuck and not getting anywhere, but I always try to look how far I’ve come and to set realistic goals. My tip is to be consistent. On Instagram, I try to post everyday. For the blog, I try to post at least twice a week, but that is something I’m trying to work on this year. Being consistent is key. The more you post, the more growth you will see. It might be slow and steady, but growth is growth!

Engage with Others

In order to grow, it’s important to engage with others. When people see you are engaging with them, they will engage back. Take the time to reply to your comments. Leave genuine comments on other people’s photos. Read others’ blog posts and let them know what you liked about it. When people see you are putting an effort, they will see that and most likely reciprocate back.

Find a Community

I really started to see growth when I found a community of other fashion bloggers who were just like me. I joined a blogging community called Style Collective. It is a platform for female influencers to connect, grow, and learn how to be successful bloggers and entrepreneurs. I have met so many amazing and supportive girls that I am proud to call my SC Sisters! If you are a blogger and are interested in learning more, click here! Having a community is great because you learn and support each other.

Don’t Compare Yourself to Others

My most important tip is to not compare yourself to others. You shouldn’t compare your journey to someone else’s. Everyone started somewhere. Everyone was a beginner at some point. One of my favorite quotes is:

We won’t be distracted by comparison if we are captivated with purpose.

-Bob Goff

Whenever I’m suffering from the comparison game, I like to read that quote over and over and let it sink in. You should focus on your blogging journey. Focus on your goals and remember why you wanted to start a blog in the first place. Don’t worry about anyone else. YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and found it helpful. If you want me to write more blogging tip posts, I’d love to hear your feedback. 🙂
